Squamish is called the ''outdoor recreational capital of Canada'' and with very good reason. Among the plethora of actvities in Squamish, hiking has to be one of the most accessible and rewarding.
There is a hiking option for everyone in Squamish. Whether its a gentle walk along the beautiful Squamish River trails or week long expeditions into the backcountry, Squamish has it all. Be sure to have all the necessary safety equipment if you are going on a more challenging route. Also ensure that you check the weather before leaving as weather in the mountains can change quickly.
There are far too many Squamish hikes to list here so instead please find some amazing resources that may help:
-The Squamish Hiking book is one of my personal favourites. This is small enough to fit into your backpack but also large enough to fit in loads of really useful information about hiking in the Squamish area. Thsi is a great resource however it is quite pricey.
- The Squamish Adventure Centre located conviently right off highway 99, is a great place to go and ask for advice. These guys are super friendly and knowlegable about the surrounding areas and you can get tonnes of maps and info for free. Plus they have a beautiful cafe!
