To make sure your rental starts on time and runs smoothly, please arrive early before your scheduled departure. This gives you enough time to complete all required steps without feeling rushed.
Please plan for the following on arrival:
- Completion of rental paperwork and agreement
- Verification of ID and credit card details
- Boat licence or temporary licence requirements, including a mandatory checklist and briefing if needed
- Safety orientation, including the location of onboard safety equipment
- Viewing of the required Transport Canada safety video before departure if not already completed
Please arrive one hour early to allow time for the temporary licence process and safety briefing.
Arriving late may reduce your time on the water, as all safety and legal requirements must be completed before departure.
Hot Tub Use:
Guests are welcome to use the hot tub before or after their experience. Please shower before entering.
Personal Belongings:
Squamish Watersports is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.
Weather Conditions:
It is significantly colder on the water than on land due to wind and exposure. Please bring warm clothing and rain gear.
Carrying Capacity:
The inflatable boat accommodates up to 6 people. The fibreglass boat accommodates 4 to 5 people. Dogs are not permitted on either type of vessel. If your group exceeds 5 people, we might be able to accommodate this for an additional charge.
Rental Policies:
All drivers must be at least 21 years old, proficient in English, and hold a valid driver’s license. A maximum of 2 drivers is permitted per rental vessel.
The minimum rental duration is 2 hours. A $1,000 deposit is required for all motorboat rentals and must be paid before the rental period begins. The deposit is refunded if the vessel is returned undamaged; otherwise, it will be held until any damage is assessed.
Credit card information is kept on file while equipment is out on rental, and the card must match the driver’s information. Advertised rates do not include fuel or applicable taxes.
Boat rentals include a full tank. Additional fuel used is charged at $3.30/L.
No alcohol or drugs are permitted on any vessel. We reserve the right to cancel any reservation at the client’s expense if there are signs of intoxication or unsafe behaviour.
GPS trackers are installed on all rental vessels.
If you do not already hold a boat licence, a temporary boat licence can be issued. This requires arrival at least 45 minutes before your rental time to complete the necessary checklist and training.
At least one member of the group must carry a cell phone for emergency contact. You can reach the shop at 778-989-5483 or 778-989-0060.
No towing is permitted with any rental vessels. Wakeboarding services are available through Squamish Watersports Guided Services.
Fishing Policy
Fishing is not permitted from our rigid hull inflatable boats (RHIBs). Guests wishing to fish are welcome to rent one of our fiberglass boats, which are approved for fishing activities.
Wildlife & Regulations:
The Howe Sound is home to incredible wildlife, and you may be lucky enough to spot some during your time on the water. To help protect these species, important rules and regulations are in place.
Please review the Marine Wildlife Protection Act on our website. You will be required to confirm in your rental agreement that you have read and understood this document. If you are unable to review it in advance, a printed copy will be available at our office.
ID & Credit Card Requirement
Guests are required to leave a valid government-issued ID or credit card while using rental equipment.
Transport Canada Safety Requirement:
As a passenger in our watercraft, Transport Canada requires that you understand the location and use of onboard safety equipment in case of emergency. Please watch the following video before your experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X99U8TTVpsA
