Supervised option:

Supervision and assistance is given in conjunction with a lesson, if you are in need of assistance, our team will come help you as quickly as possible but it is important that you have the suitable skills to stay safe and manage your equipment on your own.

Unsupervised option:

No supervision is provided, you must stay in the riding area to be visible to our team. While staff may check for your position in the sound from time to time, they will not be watching adequately to notice any need for help.

Once you are certified to go out on your own, upwind drops are a great option to get more time on the water away from the congested area near the launch zone. To qualify for supervised and unsupervised drops, you must demonstrate full proficiency and independence in all key skills, including riding in all directions, particularly upwind.

All our customers are invited to use our amenities before and after the session.

EQUIPMENT
Upwind drops do not include the use of any of Squamish Watersports equipment. We do provide rentals for an additional charge. You are responsible to ensure that your gear is in adequate condition for the experience.

IMPORTANT: If your gear has a malfunction on the water, you will have the choice to either rent our equipment if it is available on the water or be packed down and wait for the next ride in.

Additionally, if you are not able to demonstrate sufficient independency on the water, for your and other’s safety, you will be packed down and sent on the next boat returning to the marina.

Equipment rental includes all necessary gear for kiteboarding or Winging including a wetsuit rental if needed. Rental is available for the 3-4 hour period associated with the upwind drop.

In order to qualify for this experience, you must be familiar with the necessary techniques to hold your ground on the water. Video footage of your riding must be presented to prove proficiency or be signed up by an instructor after your last lesson.

We have a variety of wing and kite equipment available for a safe and fun day out on the water available to rent. With all types of wings and boards available in our fleet you are sure to have a great time on the water.

For kiteboading, riders must be comfortable with entering and exiting the beach amongst many other water users as well as all other independent requirements.

Proficiency Requirements 

I am able to ride in all directions including upwind.
I am consistently able to stay upwind.
I am proficient in re-launching my kite.
I am proficient in upwind body dragging and am able to retrieve my board consistently.
I am able to complete a self rescue in deep waters.
I am able to enter and exit the water safely.
I am aware of all right of way rules and am comfortable riding amongst other users.
I am familiar with the local winds, current and hazards.
I understand that I am responsible for myself solely.

Wetsuits not included but are available for rent at $40 per person. You are also welcome to purchase a new wetsuit in our shop or bring your own minimum 5mm full suit.
