Vancouver is one of Canada’s most beautiful cities surrounded by the ocean and snow-capped mountains. It attracts adventure lovers from around the world with endless possibilities in the mountains and ocean that surround it. Go skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, kiteboarding and so much more! Though it is surrounded by water kiteboard Vancouver is not always the best. It is possible sometimes but it is not consistent or reliable.
The best place to kiteboard Vancouver is in Squamish. It is located about 45 minutes north on the Sea to Sky Highway and it is definitely worth the drive!
The Squamish Spit is a great, reliable place to kiteboard, only 50min away from Vancouver.

THE SPIT

The Squamish Spit is located at the very end of the Howe Sound. Thermal winds pick up daily through the summer generally bringing 20-25 knots. The wind is very reliable as the sun shines constantly from June-September creating a land breeze with epic conditions to kiteboard Vancouver.
The wind at the Spit blows offshore so it is important to be an independent rider. You need to be able to ride upwind, get your own board back when you lose it and perform a self rescue in the the water confidently.

KITEBOARD VANCOUVER LESSONS

Lessons are available at the Spit and from downtown. All lessons are boat supervised and happen way upwind away from all other riders on the water.

KITEBOARD VANCOUVER SHOPS

Airtime Kiteboarding and North Shore Ski and Board are both located in Vancouver. Squamish Watersports/Aerial Kiteboarding is located in Squamish. All gear sales are available including new and used gear as well as any cold water gear needed.
Squamish is a kiteboard Vancouver hotspot and is where all the locals come to ride from Vancouver to Pemberton. Come check it out!
